Exhibition dedicated to rural interior textiles of Vitebsk region opened in Vitebsk

 

The regional methodological center of folk art has opened an exhibition-competition "U rodnay khattsy on the steel, on the floor: abruses, tabletops, survetki". This is the third exhibition dedicated to rural interior textiles of Vitebsk region. It demonstrates its identity, diversity and richness.

Simultaneously with this exhibition, visitors will see an exhibition of creative activities of the branch No. 1 of the House of Crafts "Stari Mlyn" of the Center for Culture of the Postavy district, where original works of local masters are presented.

Each exhibit is special. Traditional household textile items are created by hand by folk craftsmen in various techniques. Hand-patterned weaving on canvas, weaving, knitting, embroidery, sewing from scraps of textiles, stuffing-the secrets of art were learned by masters during ethnographic expeditions or from local needlewomen. The event provides for a creative competition, during which the best works in each direction will be determined.

Ekaterina Labuko, director of the regional methodological Center for Folk Art, emphasized how dear things that remember the warmth of human hands are to the hearts of descendants. During the opening ceremony, she solemnly presented the author of the project, leading methodologist of OMTSNT Nina Bobrovich, with a carpet that was woven by her mother-in-law Valentina Zhdanovich, a native of Dubro region.

Within the framework of the event, folk craftsmen of Liozna region demonstrated how festive tablecloths were created in the old days on canvases, and Postavy needlewomen revealed the secrets of bead weaving, netting, and creating clay whistles.

Guests of the exhibition were treated to the famous Postavy gingerbread covered with colored glaze. These products have repeatedly received high praise at the regional and republican levels.
