SCO considers emergency humanitarian aid mechanism

The Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) member states are discussing the possibility of creating a mechanism for providing humanitarian aid during emergencies, SCO Secretary General Nurlan Yermekbayev told the Russian news agency TASS on the sidelines of the CIS International Economic Forum. 

“A mechanism for humanitarian aid in emergencies is now under discussion,” Nurlan Yermekbayev said.

According to him, if such a mechanism is created, it would primarily serve SCO member states, but non member countries could also apply for it.
