BelTA presents WW2 victory’s anniversary projects at CIS news agencies council session

BelTA’s projects timed to the 80th anniversary of the Great Victory were presented at a session of the council of heads of state-run news agencies of the CIS states in St. Petersburg, Russia, BelTA has learned.

BelTA Director General Irina Akulovich noted: “Every third resident of Belarus died during the Great Patriotic War. However bitter the historic truth may be, it is very important. The work being done in Belarus by hundreds of search teams is very important. The teams contain a lot of young people but the work is primarily done by the prosecution service and the search battalion of the Armed Forces within the framework of the criminal case looking into the genocide of the Belarusian nation. And they uncover terrible reality. As reporters we have to tell people about this war and demonstrate this war.”

Irina Akulovich talked about the book Warriors of Spirit. It is a joint project of BelTA and the Belarusian Orthodox Church. It presents a cycle of 12 stories about clergymen and monks, who defended the Motherland as part of army units during the Great Patriotic War of 1941-1945 and fought against the enemy in the occupied territories.
